Karissa Marie Oakley is a paralegal with more than a decade of experience in the legal field. She began her career as a receptionist at a family law firm and loved how the law firm’s work made a difference in people’s lives. She went on to work toward a paralegal certificate, earning an associate's degree and obtaining her paralegal certificate in August 2024. Karissa is also a member of the National Honor Society of Leadership & Success.
As a paralegal with Hendershot Cowart P.C. in Houston, Texas, she works alongside attorneys and other paralegals and support staff to ensure that every case progresses smoothly for our clients. Most of the cases that she assists with involve probate and business litigation matters, but there really is no case, claim, or lawsuit that is outside of her purview.
Whether it is scheduling meetings and checking deadlines on the firm’s calendar or updating the document management system, Karissa is the “Jack of All Trades” that everyone can count on. It is also Karissa’s friendly voice you will hear during the first hour of our business day (7 to 8 a.m.). Her helpful, early-morning service has even inspired 5-star reviews.
Interestingly, Karissa was working in a different area of the law when she first heard about our firm. The name “Hendershot Cowart P.C.” kept appearing on documents and important letters on her desk, which made her curious about the firm’s work and reputation. After seeing how we keep our client’s best interests at heart, she was determined to join the team.
In her personal time, Karissa enjoys working out and spending time with her spouse, three children and pets. For quiet time, if she isn’t binge watching her favorite shows or spending time with her loved ones, she likes to pick up a paintbrush and see where her creativity takes her on the canvas.
